Student Testimonials

I believe that the instructor is the most essential element in learning. Having been a university professor, I have exceptionally high standards for the instructors with whom I choose to study. Sifu Bernhardt meets and exceeds my standards. He is patient and clear. Sifu Bernhardt teaches using many modalities (including verbal, visual, and kinesthetic). He is attuned to each student's needs. He is encouraging and inclusive. I am thankful for the opportunity to study with Sifu Bernhardt, have learned much and am even more motivated in my practice at home.

"The initial purpose of my taking Tai Chi was to improve my flexibility and balance. After about 6 months my flexibility and balance have greatly improved and to my surprise so has, what was, my very poor posture." In addition to this, a bone density test showed improvement with my osteoporosis. This improvement has mainly been attributed to the Tai Chi classes with Sifu Bernhardt. My doctor recommends continuing the program and I look forward to further improvement with my health."

"I first started Tai Chi with Sifu Bernhardt to compliment my other Martial Art studies, but he also showed me the medicinal aspects and how it will affect my life in the long run.
3 years later my blood preasure and stress level have both gone down and I have more energy through out the day. His committment to his students not only makes him a remarkable teacher, but a life long friend."

"I have practiced Guang Ping Tai Chi for 3 years. I was looking for a low impact exercise because of my arthritis. I had no idea at the time that I started, how beneficial the Tai Chi would be. I was looking for an alternative to medications and after six months of practice found no need for them. As I continue the study of Tai Chi my joints continue to feel better and better. I also realize how multi-faceted the art is. I will study Tai Chi for the rest of my life."

"Since beginning my study of Tai Chi Chuan with Sifu Bo I have learned many things from him applicable in my daily life, in my study of martial arts and as well as deeply effecting my personal philosophy. Physically I am more flexible, able to better address stress, I have lowered my blood pressure and have greatly improved my balance, important for people of all ages. Most important I have acquired a deep appreciation of the importance of the essence of breathing.

I am constantly finding application of the Tai Chi Chuan principles in my personal study of martial arts. The influence of my study of Tai Chi Chuan is especially evident to my other instructors. My practice has greatly improved my sensitivity to my opponents actions and reactions.

Sifu Bo has helped me build a foundation for my journey of exploration into the literature, history and philosophy of Tai Chi Chuan, Taoism, China and the interrelationships of martial arts and modern applications. I am deeply indebted to Sifu Bo and my fellow students."

"As I approach 70 years of age I have been volunteering in diffferent areas to keep busy in order to ignore the aches and pains that had been increasing daily. It was suggested to me by some wonderful people at Kovars Karate that taking Tai Chi might help, and how it might benefit me. So here I am, just 10 months later, looking forward to each and every class I attend. It has benefited me in many ways. Even though I can not yet complete the short form, let alone the long form (Sifu David Bernhardt only wants us to move at our own pace without hurting ourselves), I find I have more energy after each session and have not only improved my posture and lessened the pains from arthritis, but my whole attitude has improved and I have found peace and an overall feeling of well being. Sifu Bernhardt and his assistants have brought out each individual's strengths and faith within ourselves to keep moving forward."

"Before I started Tai Chi i was already starting to see my body fall apart from life's stresses as well as neglect." That's when I started learning Tai Chi and I strongly feel that it has helped me. I feel more grounded, more centered and more at ease with myself. I have more energy, strength and calmness. I'm more flexible and feel I am moving through this world more easily rather than rushing around and pushing my way past people. I am very grateful to Sifu Bernhardt and his excellent teaching. He has a real gift. Not only have I learned Tai Chi, but I have learned alot about myself."
